Will Services We Offer
We are able to provide all types of wills, from simple wills to more complex ones including trusts. In urgent situations, we also offer deathbed or express services.
Simple Will Writing
A simple single or mirror will states the wishes of an individual person or couple. Within this framework, you can appoint executors, make gifts to named individuals or charities, stipulate funeral and organ donation wishes, make provisions for pets, appoint guardians for minor children, and include trusts for bereaved minors/young people.
Specialist Will Writing
A specialist will includes all features of a simple will, plus one specialist will trust, and property services if required. You might want to use this trust to provide for a beneficiary, safeguard an asset, or reduce an inheritance tax liability. In addition to will-based trusts we also offer lifetime trusts. Find out more about the different lifetime trust options we offer on our Trusts page.
Will Storage & Registration
Whilst will storage via either Waverley Wills or HM Courts & Tribunal Service are available free of charge, we can also arrange document storage through 3rd party providers such as The National Will Archive. All wills are registered free of charge via The National Will Registry. Additionally we offer secure digital documents storage, accessible only by you, your will writer, and your executors.
Ancillary Will Documents
For truly personalised estate planning, we offer assistance in drafting ancillary documents such as Letter of Wishes or Letter of Explanation. These essential documents are used to provide additional post-death guidance to executors, trustees, and even the courts.
Professional Appointees for Wills
There will be occasions when choosing a suitable person to act as either Executor or Trustee is difficult. In such situations, Waverley Wills may be appointed to act.
Assets Passing Outside of the Will
You may be forgiven for assuming that all of your assets can be distributed through your will, but certain assets cannot. Your Pensions, Life Assurance policies, Death in Service workplace benefits, and at times your Property will pass outside of your will. As standard we consider, and plan for, the distribution of all of your assets, not just the assets that pass within your will. Contact us to find out more.
The Basics
Why Write a Will?
Writing a will with the guidance of a professional allows you to:
- Know that your affairs are in order if the worst should happen
- Leave the handling of your estate to named executors who you trust to do the job well
- Make sure that your hard-earned assets go to the people or charities you want
- Make provisions for family members (by setting up suitable trusts and financial arrangements) and pets
- Specify the guardianship of minor children or vulnerable dependents if both parents/guardians were to die
- Stipulate your funeral and organ donation wishes
- Facilitate tax planning
- Avoid the pitfalls associated with dying intestate (without a will)

Why Update Your Will?
As a rule, we suggest that estate planning arrangements should be reviewed every 3 years.
- The births of any children
- Divorce/contemplation of divorce
- Marriage/contemplation of marriage (particularly if this may otherwise cause sideways disinheritance for existing children)
- Deaths
- Any significant changes in your personal circumstances
- Important legislative changes
